This candidate has responded to a Political Courage Test in a previous election. As a continued effort to provide the American public with factual information on candidates running for public office, these archived responses are made available here.
Pro-life a) Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
No b) Do you support legalizing abortion when the pregnancy resulted from incest or rape?
Yes c) Do you support the prohibition of public funds for organizations that perform abortions?
We know from science that human life begins at conception. I am against intentionally killing innocent human life.
a) In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing state employee salaries AND/OR pensions?
No b) In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
I am for balancing the budget by reducing or eliminating the money government spends on things not authorized by the constitution. This will also reduce tax rates which will also expand the economy which will ultimately increase tax revenue. I am for allowing the private sector to take care of the things not assigned to the government in either the state or US Constitutions.
No a) Do you support a limit on campaign contributions to state candidates?
No b) Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
No c) Do you support the use of an independent AND/OR bipartisan commission for redistricting?
Yes d) Do you support requiring a government-issued photo identification in order to vote at the polls?
No e) Do you support automatic voter registration?
Yes f) Do you support abolishing the role of Township Assessor?
I am not in favor of limiting speech which is what happens when there are limits on contributions. I'm in favor of reducing the ease with which voter fraud can be committed and increasing the ease with which it can be caught. Elections have consequences and the role of redistricting belongs to the legislature. In general, I am for eliminating government that is not authorized by the constitution. The reason I support the abolishing of township assessor is because I am for eliminating unconstitutional property taxes. If there are no property taxes, then there is no need for an assessor
Yes a) Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
Yes b) Should an individual under 18 accused of a violent crime be prosecuted as an adult?
Yes c) Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration laws by state and local police?
No d) Do you support the use of private prisons in Indiana?
e) Do you support mandatory minimum sentences for non-violent drug offenders?
I believe certain crimes are so heinous that the only way to respect the innocent lives affected are to end the life of the offender. There are some cases where some minors under 18 should be tried as an adult. There is nothing magical about being under the age of 18 that prevents someone from knowing right from wrong. These situations should be evaluated on a case by case basis. The federal government is subordinate to the states so the states should assist in enforcement. Some non-violent crimes are serious enough for mandatory sentences. e) Depends on the crime.
No a) Do you support state government spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes b) Do you support lowering state income taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes c) Do you support reducing government regulations on the private sector?
Yes d) Do you support requiring welfare applicants to pass a drug test in order to receive benefits?
No e) Do you support an increase of the minimum wage of Indiana?
No f) Do you support requiring employers to provide paid family leave?
Yes g) Do you support providing financial relief to businesses AND/OR corporations negatively impacted by the state of national emergency for COVID-19?
Yes h) Do you support the establishment of a work share program in Indiana to assist access to unemployment benefits?
In general, I am against any extra spending by the government. In the case of Covid-19 relief, this is akin to restitution for the irreparable damage caused by government overreach. Minimum wage laws hurt the very people they are designed to help by making it harder for people to get job experience. I want to reduce government dependency in any way we reasonably can. I am for allowing the market to decide things like whether or not a person gets paid family leave. Many regulations can be eliminated and the market will determine what works.
No a) Do you support adopting federal education standards in Indiana?
b) Do you support state funding for charter schools?
c) Do you support increasing teacher salaries AND/OR benefits in Indiana?
No d) Should immigrants unlawfully present in the United States who graduate from Indiana high schools be eligible for in-state tuition at public universities?
The government has failed students and that failure has increased with the establishment of the US Department of Education. I am for local school control rather than federal control. Teachers are not state employees so the state should have no say in what teachers are paid. I am not for rewarding unlawful behavior. Because parents know that their children will get benefits in the US, they cut in line by putting their families at risk to come here illegally. If we stop giving the rewards, we may reduce the unlawful activity.
No a) Do you support state funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
No b) Do you support government regulations of greenhouse gas emissions?
No c) Do you support increasing state funding for clean drinking water initiatives?
These are all things that can and should be handled by the private sector which would have more money if we got government out of things they have no constitutional authority with which to be involved.
No a) Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
No b) Should background checks be required on gun sales between private citizens at gun shows?
Yes c) Should teachers be allowed to bring guns into the classroom after passing gun safety training?
No d) Should a license be required for gun ownership?
The US and State Constitutions are clear. The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed and the people have a right to bear arms for the defense of themselves or the state. Any legislation that infringes on those rights needs to go.
a) Should the state government increase funding for treatment facilities to combat opioid abuse?
b) Do you support Medicaid expansion through Indiana's health care programs?
No c) Do you support requiring individuals to purchase health care insurance?
No d) Do you support legislation that grants citizens the right to choose to die through euthanasia?
No e) Do you support eliminating religious exemptions for vaccinations?
No f) Do you support requiring businesses to provide paid medical leave during public health crises, such as COVID-19?
g) Other or expanded principles:
No a) Do you support the inclusion of sexual orientation in Indiana's anti-discrimination laws?
No b) Do you support the inclusion of gender identity in Indiana's anti-discrimination laws?
No c) Do you support greater efforts by Indiana state government in closing the pay gap between men and women?
Yes d) Should gender be a required piece of information on Indiana driver's licenses?
If by gender, you mean the classical definition which is a synonym for biological sex as indicated on their birth certificate, then that should remain on the driver's license. If you are talking about some fluid understanding only in the mind of the individual, then that should not be on the license. In general, I am not for anti-discrimination laws that are based on behavior or subjective criteria that can quickly and easily change from one moment to the next.
I will seek to bring the state into compliance with the US and State Constitution.
Provide equal protection under the law for all Hoosiers including those who are living in their mother's womb. Pass true constitutional carry in the state so that there will be no government permission slip needed to carry a firearm in the state of Indiana as is allowed in Article 1 section 32 of the State Constitution. Create safeguards against unconstitutional government overreach.
